Is fizzy water bad for your teeth?

soda can | dentist in boise id

In a nutshell the answer is no, sparkling water is not bad for your teeth. If you are a fan of the fizzy stuff like San Pellegrino, or our personal favorite, San Faustino, you can rest easy all is well. But there are a few "gotchas" to take in mind.

The recent research study comparing the effects on extracted human teeth placed in tap water verses sparkling water showed no difference in erosion or break down of the tooth enamel. One difference was citrus in the water increased the acidity. But the normal habit of drinking mineral water was not found to be harmful to your teeth. Great news for our European ...

open hands | dentist boise id

Are you a nail biter who is tired of the habit? You may think it’s just you, but it’s not; some estimates indicate that between 20 and 30 percent of adults in the US bite their nails.

Only about 12% of Americans floss. Hard to believe? Not so much. It’s boring. But if you want to keep your own teeth instead of dental implants, crowns or bridge work, then it is absolutely essential.

Flossing with twigs has been around since prehistoric times. But it was in 1815: American dentist, Dr. Levi Spear Parmly who introduced the idea of using waxed silken thread as floss. Too bad he wasn’t able to share it with his contemporary George Washington. Would have prevented those horrible and carved wooden dentures. If only we had a time machine to go back and provide President Washington some implants to hold his dentures, ...

How to Find and Evaluate a Family Dentist in Boise

woman at dentist | general dentistry boise id

You need to find a Family Dentist in Boise Idaho, but how? Determining if a dentist has excellent training and caring can be very difficult. Does an appealing yellow page ad mean “Great Dentist” or just that a great marketing firm was hired? How about a convenient location. While a nice perk, it doesn’t tell you anything about the skills and caring of the Dentist.1-800 Dentist or other advertised “dentist finding services” are usually just paid advertisements by the dentist.

Offers of free or discount services have absolutely no connection to good dentistry. Do the mailers in your mail box have “before and after-treatment photos” of beautiful smiles? Did the advertising ...
