David L. Cantwell, DDS
"I love giving people hope that they can have a comfortable, beautiful smile that will last a lifetime and the confidence that they will be well taken care of at our office. I love helping a patient take care of a problem that they have been having trouble with and seeing it through to a successful resolution. When they sit up and say, 'That's awesome, and it was way easier than I thought it would be!' that's my favorite thing."
Dr. Cantwell graduated from Ohio State University College of Dentistry. After completing dental school, he completed an advanced dental residency in oral, periodontal, and endodontic surgery.
Commissioned in 1997 as a Dental Officer in the United States Air Force, Dr. Cantwell cared for military families and retirees while stationed both home and abroad and was awarded several military decorations. In 2001, Dr. Cantwell was awarded Dental Officer of the Year for all of the United States Air Force in Europe.
Following his military service, Dr. Cantwell opened his private practice as a Boise dentist, settling with his wife and five children in Idaho to be closer to their extended family.
Dr. Cantwell is an active member of the American Dental Association. After hundreds of hours of post-graduate study and testing, Dr. Cantwell was awarded the prestigious Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry certification (FAGD), fewer than 5% of all dentists nationally hold this credential.
He is an experienced dental implant surgeon, a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, awarded Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), Member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and has completed the Misch Implant Residency with training in advanced bone grafting, sinus lifts and dental implant surgery.
Dr. Cantwell is also one of a small percentage of dentists who have completed postgraduate training at one of the world’s premiere continuing dental education institutes, The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. He is one of only three dentists in all of Idaho to hold this distinction. The comprehensive examination you receive in this office will probably be unlike any you have received before.
Dr. Cantwell is married with five children from ages 9 to 20 years. Their nicknames are Buddy, Gus, Shark-Bait, Peaches, and Boo. Dr. Cantwell enjoys golf, all things Roman History, scuba diving, backpacking, reading, target shooting, and above all: goofing off with five wonderful squirmy kids who always beg him to tickle them (although now they have the upper hand and gang up on him).
Dr. Chad Cooley, DDS
Dr. Cooley has been around dentistry his whole life. His father is an orthodontist, sister is a general dentist, and both grandfathers were dentists. Dr. Cooley is a graduate of the UNLV School of Dental Medicine
From a young age he has loved working with his hands. He re-built the lawn mower as a child, attempted to fix his mother's SUV when he was 12 (ended up frying her electrical system! ), and worked his way through high school and college in the bike industry building bikes. It was then that a young Chad Cooley discovered that dentistry allowed him to "continue building and crafting with my hands and to be able to help and serve people at the same time". He loves the ability to help someone that is not happy with the look of their teeth and restore that into something that can build confidence in their smile.
Dr. Cooley grew up in Redding California but then attended BYU-Idaho in Rexburg where he met his wife Laurel who is from Boise Idaho.
The Cooly's have a 2 year old son named Ashton who has a love for life and anything outside. Ashton's current favorite obsession is riding lawn mowers and can hardly contain himself when someone is cutting their lawn. The Cooleys love to take Ashton paddle boarding, hiking, and even took him skiing for the first time last winter.
Dr. Cooley has been an avid mountain biker since he was a teenager, and continues to ride as much as he can. While going to school in Las Vegas he picked up rock climbing at Red Rock National park which was 10 minutes from our house. Since moving to Boise he has taken up Surfing on the Boise River. you will often see me there at 6am before work. "Nothing wakes you up better than an Ice cold river."
Fun fact: A Stranger that he sat next to on a chairlift while skiing in Utah ended up setting him up on a blind date with his now wife.
Front Office Administrator
Shanté has a big personality. She is a constant source of positive energy. We love having her as part of the team, and patients love her caring, fun attitude about everything. As Shanté once advised me, "It's not about winning or losing. It's about participating."
Shanté comes to us from the Medical World, but now she has decided to make the switch to the world of making better smiles.
She enjoys her grandchildren, camping in the Idaho woods with her husband David, French Poetry, and rebuilding motorcycle engines.
“I am proud of the quality of care we provide for our patients.”
Heather is a seasoned dental assistant. She completed her certified dental assistant training at Idaho State University. Over the past fourteen years, Heather has assisted on everything from the smallest restorative cases to the largest of technical surgeries, including bone grafts, dental implant placements, and full mouth reconstructions. Sometimes we think Dr. Cantwell just closes his eyes and lets Heather move his hands while he takes a nap. She loves what she does and does it efficiently while having the biggest of hearts for the patient’s comfort.
Heather was born and raised in Pocatello and loves being here in Boise. She enjoys walks with her husband and adorable little boy and girl. She is a serious NFL football enthusiast who doesn’t take kindly to disparaging comments about the San Francisco 49ers. Seriously, don’t talk bad about the 49rs. I did it once and I still have a limp…
Ever since she was a little girl Mickenna dreamed of working at Atlantis Dental. We have seen Mickenna as a patient since she was a tiny little girl. In fact she absolutely loves the taste of Fluoride. Her favorite flavor was bubble gum, but now she prefers a nice vintage of Walterberry Mint.
She loves free rock climbing and base jumping, on virtual reality. She is an avid hiker and love being with her family and sisters. She is an excellent comedian and always has a joke ready for you. Just ask her.
She has a love for her dog Jade. And animals in general. She is a bright fun spot in our practice daily come get to know Mickenna.
I love making a positive difference in the life of others. I have dreamed about being a hygienist since I was a little girl. I love it!
Hailey was so passionate about starting a career in dental hygiene that she graduated early from high school to attend dental hygiene school. In fact, she has wanted to be a hygienist ever since she was a little girl. After working and interviewing at over a dozen dental offices, she finally found Atlantis Dental Care, a practice that she loves! She takes the time to get to know her patients individually so she can do everything possible to help them achieve their goals for a healthier smile.
Hailey is a native of Eagle and loves to spend time traveling with David, her husband. In her free time she also loves to bake, golf and take care of their adorable baby girls.
While we have not witnessed her golf skills, but we all will vouch for some serious cake baking talent! Dr. Cantwell lives in fear that the Food Network is going to abduct her…
"I love meeting and getting to know new people and families. I enjoy helping people achieve oral health and maintain it for a lifetime."
Jackie is a graduate of Clark College of Dental Hygiene in Vancouver, WA. She has also received Advanced Laser Training in Chicago, IL. Jackie received the Outstanding Graduate award from her graduating hygiene class and is a member of the Sigma Phi Honor Society of Dental Hygiene.
Jackie is an amazing clinician. To be perfectly honest, we almost didn’t hire Jackie when we found out she was from Michigan (Dr. Cantwell is an Ohio State Buckeye!); however, Jackie quickly won us over with her amazing clinical skills and experience. Combine that with wonderful patient understanding and a gentle but thorough touch, and we have rave reviews from her patients! Jackie is a welcome addition to our team. Jacque is a ninja assassin with plaque and tarter. Obsessive-compulsive is not the half of it. Let's just say in the Kingdom of Dental Plaque, all the warning signs have Jacque’s picture on them
Jackie grew up in Missoula, MT, but lived in Michigan for 30 years. In 2013 she moved back to the Boise area to be near her parents. She loves sports, especially Michigan State. (I know, I know, but she’s still a good person. I think…). She enjoys spending time with family, hiking and exploring the area. Jackie is married with two grown kids and two grandchildren that we are pretty sure she likes a lot!
“I always dreamed of being a hygienist. I love my job!”
You’ll never meet a more sincere and capable hygienist. Peggy has worked as a surgical assistant and Accountant, before she finally got the opportunity to pursue her dreams of becoming a Dental Hygienist. She has been caring for oral care for many years, and embraces all the newest technology and research to help patients achieve their best oral care.
Peggy and her husband love biking, cross-fit, and the outdoors. You may even try to catch up to her at the next Spartan race she runs. She has a wonderful, kind and understanding personality that everyone loves. We can't wait for you to meet Peggy.
Patient Care Coordinator
“I love helping to change a patient's smile. I am there to help make sure their treatment plan and insurance plan cooperate. I like to help patients get the maximum benefit from their insurance plan.”
Lois is a 15-year veteran of dentistry and has been with Atlantis Dental for two years. Starting out as a chairside assistant, she now uses her clinical experience serving patients in the front office. Lois can help you with financial and insurance questions. She always has a smile and an upbeat attitude for every patient.
In her spare time, Lois loves spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, nephews, and nieces. She and her husband love to get on their Harley and go for "total relaxation". We think she is talking about riding but she has never clarified for us what "total relaxation" means...
